Electronics Engineer

The incumbent performs developmental duties leading to senior level duties of the position which includes, but not limited to the following:
conducts broad and highly technical engineering studies which are the basis for resolution of such issues as controversial applications, development of new or revised rules, testimony in enforcement actions, negotiation treaties, and establishment of government and industry standards and agreements. The incumbent collaborates with FCC attorneys regarding need for hearings as a result of engineering determinations; formulates, from an engineering standpoint, appropriate hearing issues; prepares engineering studies and exhibits required for proceedings; recommends alternate procedures and course of action to resolve problems informally; evaluates engineering aspects of competing applications. Represent the organization in meetings with groups such as government committees. Prepares correspondence and collaborates with other engineers in the preparation of correspondence on interrelated cases. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):

Experience:
Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 in the Federal service. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE AT THE GS-07:
For this position, specialized experience includes the following:
Assisting more experienced engineers Conducting and analyzing basic engineering studies Performing computer-based projects using various software applications Or 1 year of graduate-level education Or Superior Academic Achievement:
Completion of all requirements for a bachelor's degree that is fully qualifying for the position which meets the eligibility requirements under the Superior Academic Achievement provision. Superior Academic Achievement is based on:
(1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership. 1. Class Standing:
A standing in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision based on completed courses. 2. Grade-point average:
a. A grade-point average of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 (B or better) as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on four years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final two years of the curriculum; or b. a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 (B+ or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field of study or the required courses in the major field completed during the final two years of the curriculum. 3. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
