Summary:
The Seasonal / Temporary Grounds Maintenance Worker primarily involves maintaining the aesthetic appeal and safety of our campus grounds during the peak growing season.
This position works under the supervision of the Director - Operations and will be responsible for various tasks related to lawn care and landscaping and other maintenance and operational duties.
Mowing and edging campus lawns using commercial lawn mowers and trimmers.
Performing routine maintenance and repairs on lawn equipment as needed.
Applying fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides to maintain the health and appearance of campus lawns.
Planting, watering, and caring for flowers, shrubs, and trees across campus.
Removing weeds, leaves, and debris from lawns, walkways, and flower beds.
Assisting with the installation and maintenance of irrigation systems.
Operating vehicles and equipment safely and according to established procedures.
Following all safety protocols and wearing appropriate protective gear.
Communicating effectively with supervisors and other departmental or team members.
All other duties as assigned.
Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred (exceptions made for students not yet graduated).
Previous experience in lawn maintenance, landscaping, or related field preferred.
Knowledge of proper lawn care techniques and equipment operation.
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and carrying heavy objects.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record preferred.
