Position
Summary:
The Philanthropy Communication Specialist's primary responsibility is to manage the Friends of Gettysburg Membership Program communications schedule in support of the Senior Director of Philanthropy.
This position will also support the data needs of the Philanthropy Team by entering data into the donor records database, creating timely reports from the database, and providing backup support to caging and batch entry operations.
In addition, this position will provide major donor research and event support to the Philanthropy Team.
THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
Works closely with Senior Director of Philanthropy on the creation and execution of membership retention and acquisition strategies to include maintaining the calendar of communications, managing projects, writing content, coordinating with external print vendors, and communicating directly with members via phone, email, and in person.
Collaborates with the Membership Operations Specialist and other members of the data stewardship team to manage philanthropic data in the donor database to ensure accuracy, standards, and controls.
Manages the updating of Philanthropy Campaign, Fund, Appeal, Source structures and all Philanthropy acknowledgement letters and rules.
Assists the VP of Philanthropy and Senior Director of Philanthropy with budget planning, monitoring, tracking, POS, and reporting on fundraising metrics.
Collaborate with Membership team and broader Philanthropy team to create annual strategies, themes, and communication rhythm.
Manages monthly giving efforts including CFC, United Way, Vanguard, etc.
Compiles, runs, and schedules, and analyzes reports and dashboards for senior management and philanthropy staff.
Collaborates with Finance department to ensure gift adjustments and refunds are handled properly.
Performs data analysis and donor research to assist with donor visits and outreach strategy.
Collaborates with members of the Philanthropy Team to ensure best practices in the stewardship of members and donors to include in-person visits.
Performs other duties as requested, including supporting events organized by the Philanthropy Team.

EDUCATION/SPECIAL SKILLS/
Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and field experience.
Entrepreneurial spirit and proven experience taking responsibility for projects.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and experience in building, cultivating, and stewarding relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated interest in History a plus.
Proven track record of being a team player and experienced in collaborating on teams.
Excellent written and oral communication skills along with outstanding social skills, instincts, judgment, and integrity.
Exhibit high ethical standards of conduct and confidentiality in dealing with various internal and external constituencies.
Ambitious and motivated professional, who values working with committed colleagues in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Significant knowledge of the application of software tools including MS Office and databases; experience with Tessitura a plus.
Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends a must.
